Ways to Improve your Website's Ranking and your Online Business Presence

First of all, ranking high on some search engines doesn't mean your website is well optimized and vice versa... But a well optimized website has a better chance to rank high and to appear in the first results page of  a search engine. The reason for ranking high or not, for some websites, is simply depending on the other websites relevancy. So if your website is very well optimized but not showing up in the first 10 search results, most likely is because you have more than one online competitors, who also have their websites well optimized for the search engines. The reason that makes their websites appear before yours, could be related to one or more cause, some of the causes, but not all:
1- The age of the domain name
2- The number of the optimized pages, so more pages should mean more keywords
3- The number of the inbound links set, etc, etc...

How to know if your website is well optimized:
1- Always better to have your domain name means to the search engines what you wanted it to mean for others. If you have a company called "pears" that fabricates metal, don't use "pears" for the domain name, but use "metalfabrication"
2- Check if you pages are titled, you can do this by looking at the top bar of your browser. Look at another page title, does it have the same page title as the others? Each page needs to have a different page title
3- Check your pages meta keywords, and meta description by looking at the code of your web page, the metas are located at the top part of the code, the head part. Again each page has to have different metas, not duplicated meta description.
4- While you are looking at the code, try to find if there is a minimum of H1 and H2 for up to H6. Are these Heading using relevant keywords?
5- Are you ALT tags filled or empty? You rather have no ALT tags than having them empty.
6- Try to type /sitemap.xml after your domain name and its extension, do you see any map there? Is this map accessible by Google?
7- Are your pages well linked to each others?
8- Good to have forms, and PDF files linked to the pages.
9- Is there enough links back to your website, are they coming from relevant and high traffic websites?
10- Always try to use less graphic to speed up the loading time
